Dance Instructors

Brittany Burns

Brittany Burns is thrilled to begin her second season as an instructor for the Norridge Park District School of Dance. Brittany has been teaching dance in the suburbs of Chicago for over ten years and is trained in jazz, ballet, hip hop, tap, modern, and contemporary. Brittany began her dance training at the age of three at Bataille Academie of the Danse and continued on to dance professionally with Equilibrium Dance Chicago & The Trapping Butterflies movement. While she still performs around the city, her true passion lies in teaching.

Jen Matthews

Jen Matthews has been dancing and performing throughout Chicago since the age of 3. She began taking classes at Norridge Park where she competed and performed as a member of the Movers&Shakers Dance Team. She has danced at several Chicagoland studios and continued competing and performing in all styles of dance. She is a former dance team member of Ridgewood High School where she was captain and had the opportunity to dance in a New Year’s Day parade in Italy. She is also a former member and captain of The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) dance team.

Nicole Flores

Nicole Flores has been Performing and choreographing from a young age. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, she had the opportunity to dance with Salt Creek Ballet where she studied and performed pieces such as The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, and Carnival of the animals. In her high school years she then branched out into jazz and hip hop Studying with Xtreme dance force in Naperville IL. Here she had the opportunity of learning from So You think You can Dance’s own Sonya Tayeh, Tyce Diorio, and Nappy Tabs, and her directors, Gil Mata, Sam Renzetti, and Sarah Burney.

Elise Eriksen

Elise Ellen Ericksen received her BFA in dance performance and minor in psychology at East Carolina University. Since graduating, she has been dancing professionally with a few local dance companies in Chicago: Renegade Dance Architects, Subconscious Development Motion Project, and Tiffany Lawson Dance. Elise started dancing at the age of three at The Dance Academy in Chicago. She has been trained in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, hip hop, and modern. Elise currently works at a restaurant, and as a dog trainer. She is excited to start her first year teaching at Norridge Park District.

Sharon Girten

This is Miss Sharon's 22nd year teaching dance and 12th year coaching the “Movers & Shakers Dance Team”, for the Norridge Park District. She began dancing at the age of 4 at May Fair Park and from there moved on to dance for Mary Lou's Dance Academy in Chicago. Miss Sharon was a dance major at Columbia College where she studied Ballet, Jazz, Modern, tap and African Dance. She has performed in numerous National Dance Competitions as well as at Carnegie Hall.
