Dance Instructors

Alexis Rohde

Alexis began dancing at the age of 3 at the Norridge Park District School of Dance. Since then, she has danced at many other studios in the Chicago area. She has trained in many styles of dance including Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. Alexis is a current member of the Movers and Shakers competitive dance team where she competes all around the Chicagoland area. Alexis is currently working toward a certification in teaching dance through the International Dance Teaching Standards.

Josie Allfano

Josie began dancing at the age of 3 at the Norridge Park District School of Dance. Since then, she has trained with many different dance companies in Chicago. She has trained in tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, contemporary and modern. Some of her other experience includes participating in an intensive with the Chicago Human Rhythm Project in the summer of 2018, participating in dance competitions, and performing in shows like the Nutcracker in 2019 and dancing in musicals such as “Guys and Dolls” in 2018.

Genevieve Brady

Genevieve Brady, a native of Barrington, Illinois, began her dance career at a young age training in disciplines of ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, and jazz funk at Bataille Academie of the Danse. She graduated from Western Michigan University, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2018. During such time, she was featured in works by Loïe Fuller, Lew Christensen, Brian Enos, Brenden Duggan, James Gregg, and David Curwen. Genevieve joined Aerial Dance Chicago as an apprentice in the summer of 2018 and has joined the company in June of 2019.

Jen Matthews

Jen Matthews has been dancing and performing throughout Chicago since the age of 3. She began taking classes at Norridge Park where she competed and performed as a member of the Movers&Shakers Dance Team. She has danced at several Chicagoland studios and continued competing and performing in all styles of dance. She is a former dance team member of Ridgewood High School where she was captain and had the opportunity to dance in a New Year’s Day parade in Italy. She is also a former member and captain of The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) dance team.

Sharon Girten

This is Miss Sharon's 22nd year teaching dance and 12th year coaching the “Movers & Shakers Dance Team”, for the Norridge Park District. She began dancing at the age of 4 at May Fair Park and from there moved on to dance for Mary Lou's Dance Academy in Chicago. Miss Sharon was a dance major at Columbia College where she studied Ballet, Jazz, Modern, tap and African Dance. She has performed in numerous National Dance Competitions as well as at Carnegie Hall.
