IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING EBIKES, SCOOTERS, DIRTBIKES AND MOTORIZED VEHICLES AT NORRIDGE PARK

Bicycles are allowed within the Norridge Park District in designated areas. It is asked that while riding bikes in the park, it is done with respect and being mindful of those walking. It's also asked that bikes are not on the grass, on stairways, or in the playground area. Due to safety concerns and ordinances in both Harwood Heights (Code 10.56.075) and Norridge (Section 94-155), electric bikes, electric scooters, or motorized vehicles of any kind are prohibited in the park. Please note that motorized scooters for patrons with special needs are allowed. The backing of this policy comes from Section 3.14 of Park Ordinance #208 which reads:

Unless required by a handicapped person, as defined under Section 3.23 of this Ordinance, no Person shall drive, ride, or otherwise operate any minibike, trail bike, electric scooter, or any other motorized wheeled vehicle on District Property. Park staff have been instructed to kindly ask and remind patrons, most often younger patrons, to return home with e-bikes, e-scooters, motorized bikes, and dirt bikes. They may then return to the park without the aforementioned motorized bikes/scooters/dirt bikes. If these instructions are not followed or continuously ignored, e-bikes, e-scooters, motorized bikes, and dirt bikes will be held by police until parents pick them up--and a ticket may be issued. Safety is at the heart of the matter and we need the cooperation of everyone in the community to make the Norridge Park District a safe place for everyone to congregate and enjoy their time. We want everyone to have a safe and positive experience at the park. We thank you in advance for your understanding and for following the rules that will help everyone enjoy the warmer weather as the Spring season inches closer.
